We think of the post as obsolete, but it shaped the world we live in today, and it's nowhere near as dead as you'd think. Getting letters and parcels to the right door, every single day, still takes an enormous amount of logistics. And to learn more we're going to go on a guided tour of the sorting centre at Zurich-Mülligen.

What to expect:

• Meet at Beth's apartment for a short introduction to the Post as social technology: why postal systems got built, who they served, and what changed each time they were reinvented.
• Head to Swiss Post's sorting centre for a guided look at what the infrastructure does now: a live, large-scale operation moving parcels as well as correspondence, still solving the same basic problem of getting something physical from one specific person to another.
• Finish with drinks and food at Mica's Garten to talk it all through, Coffeehouse-style.
