Terms and Conditions
Last updated: July 21, 2026
Overview
These terms apply when you register for an event, buy merchandise, or otherwise use coffeehouseconf.com. They form an agreement between you and Coffeehouse Verein (“Coffeehouse”, “we”, “us”), a Swiss association based in Zurich. By completing a purchase you accept these terms, so please have a read.
Two related documents sit alongside this one and form part of the same agreement: our Refund Policy, which explains when you can get your money back, and our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with your data. If anything here is unclear, contact us — we’re happy to explain.
When a purchase becomes binding
Listings on our site are an invitation to buy, not a binding offer. Your order becomes binding when we send you a confirmation email. Until then, we may decline or cancel an order — for example if an event has sold out, if a price or description was clearly wrong, or if payment doesn’t go through. If we cancel after you’ve paid, you get a full refund.
You must be 18 or over to register and attend an event.
Tickets and registration
A ticket admits one person to the event it names, on the date and at the location shown at checkout. Some events include registration questions set by the organizers — dietary needs, session preferences, and the like — and we’ll do our best to accommodate your answers, though we can’t promise to.
Tickets aren’t transferable. A ticket is valid only for the person named on it, and we can’t move a registration to someone else — so if you’re booking for a friend, please enter their name at checkout rather than your own. If you can’t make it after all, cancel your ticket instead; our Refund Policy explains when that’s refundable, and if the event still has space, someone else is welcome to book the place that frees up.
Prices and payment
Prices are shown at checkout in the currency indicated there and include any applicable taxes. Payment is taken at the time of purchase through our payment provider; card details are entered directly with them and never reach our servers. If a payment is reversed or charged back after we’ve confirmed your order, we may cancel the registration.
Changes, cancellations, and refunds
Your right to a refund is set out in full in our Refund Policy. In short: full refund for event cancellations requested in writing at least 24 hours before the start time, and 30 days to return unused merchandise.
Occasionally we need to change an event ourselves. If we move the date, time, or location significantly, or cancel an event outright, we’ll tell you as soon as we can and you can choose between a full refund and a place at the rescheduled event. Small changes — a swapped speaker, a reordered programme, a room change within the same venue — don’t count as significant, and the event goes ahead as booked.
If circumstances beyond our reasonable control make an event impossible — severe weather, illness, venue loss, official restrictions — we’ll refund tickets for the cancelled event, but we aren’t responsible for other costs you may have incurred, such as travel or accommodation. Please book those with that in mind.
Merchandise
We sell Coffeehouse-themed merchandise in person and at our events; we don’t ship. Items are paid for online or on the spot and picked up in person. Photos and descriptions are as accurate as we can make them, but colours and finishes can vary slightly. Returns are covered by our Refund Policy.
Code of conduct
Coffeehouse events are meant to be welcoming. We ask everyone to treat other guests, speakers, venue staff, and volunteers with respect. Harassment, discrimination, threatening behaviour, and anything that puts others at risk aren’t tolerated.
We may refuse entry to, or ask to leave, anyone who behaves in a way that harms the event or the people at it, or who ignores venue rules or safety instructions. In those cases we don’t refund the ticket. We’d much rather never use this section — if something at an event is making you uncomfortable, please tell an organizer.
Photography and recording
We photograph and film our events, and we use the results to show what Coffeehouse is like — on this website, on social media, in event recaps, and in material promoting future events. If you attend, you may appear in those photos and recordings.
If you’d rather not, tell an organizer at the event or contact us at any time, before or after. You don’t need to give a reason, and we’ll keep the request between us: we’ll avoid photographing you, and if something’s already published, we’ll crop you out or take it down.
Content and intellectual property
The content on this site — text, images, the Coffeehouse name and logo, and the design itself — belongs to us or to the people who licensed it to us, and is protected by copyright and trade mark law. You’re welcome to view, share, and link to it. You may not copy it for commercial use, or present it as your own, without our permission.
Talks and materials presented at our events remain the property of their authors.
Using the site
Please use the site as intended: don’t try to break into it, disrupt it, scrape it at scale, or use it to send anything unlawful or abusive. We may suspend access if you do. We aim to keep the site available and accurate, but we can’t promise it will always be online or entirely free of errors.
Liability
We take our events seriously and run them carefully, but you attend at your own risk and stay responsible for your own belongings. To the extent Swiss law allows, we’re not liable for indirect or consequential losses — including travel and accommodation costs — arising from your use of the site, an event, or an item you bought from us. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for intentional or grossly negligent conduct, or for anything else that can’t be limited by law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, for example as our events or legal obligations change. We’ll update the “Last updated” date above when we do. The version in force when you place an order is the one that applies to that order.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Swiss law, and the courts of Zurich, Switzerland have jurisdiction over any dispute — though if consumer protection law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring a claim locally, that right stands. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
Before it comes to any of that: please talk to us. Almost everything is easier to sort out directly.
